The Greenwood Boys

I had an amusing experience last year. After I had left a small village in the south of France, I drove on to the next town. On the way, a young man waved to me. I stopped and he asked me for a lift. Neither of us spoke during the journey. I had nearly reached the town, when the young man suddenly said, very slowly, "Do you speak English?' As I soon learnt, he was English himself!'

Fishing is my favourite sport. I often fish for hours without catching anything. But this does not worry me. Some fishermen are unlucky. Instead of catching fish, they catch old boots and rubbish. I am even less lucky. I never catch anything -- not even old boots. After having spent whole mornings on the river, I always go home with an empty bag. 'You must give up fishing!' my friends say. 'It's a waste of time.' But they don't realize one important thing. I'm not really interested in fishing. I am only interested in sitting in a boat and doing nothing at all!

快到中午了，钓鱼的人陆续回家了，他们有的笑容满面满载而归，有的淡淡一笑，收获不多。我叫爸爸买些面包来吃，不回家了，继续钓。真是功夫不负有心人，我的鱼篓里渐渐热闹起来。爸爸更是大丰收。一位老爷爷走过来看了后笑着说：“我钓了几天都没钓到这么多鱼，你们可真行啊！”我和爸爸露出了灿烂的笑容。
夕阳西下，肚子饿得咕咕叫，我和爸爸满载而归。我加快脚步赶回家 ，向妈妈庆功领赏。晚饭我吃得特别香，那鱼也格外的肉鲜味美。
