西格夫里·萨松是英国近代著名的反战诗人及小说家。
他出生于伦敦的上流社会家庭，曾就读于剑桥大学，却在第一次世界大战爆发之前自愿参军，并在一战的战场上表现英勇，屡建功勋。但是，战场上的残酷景象和战友的阵亡让他深深体会到战争的祸害，因此他于1917年退出了军队。
