跳楼也要讲技巧，跳楼时应尽量往救生气垫中部跳，或选择有水池、软雨篷、草地等方向跳。如有可能要尽量抱些棉被、沙发垫等松软物品或打开大雨伞跳下以减缓中击力。跳楼虽可求生，但会对身体造成一定的伤害，所以要慎之又慎。
事故发生之后不应好奇围观，一是可能会妨碍消防人员、医务人员和警务人员处理事故现场。其次事故发生之后，建筑或其它物体可能会发生变形或松动，很多不确定因素都存在着危险性，容易造成伤害。
