英语中，toward与towards有什么区别？
Toward 通常用它作形容词；Towards 通常用作副词。
作介词时，toward和towards这两个词在用法和意义上基本没有什么区别，可以互换使用，但前者主要用于美式英语中
1、toward：prep. 向;对于;为了;接近。 adj. 即将来到的;进行中的。
例如：
What's his attitude toward this business? Have you felt him out?
他对这事是什么态度？你摸底了吗？
The curtain rises toward the end of the Prelude.
序曲将近结束时帷幕升起来了。
2、towards：
a、向；朝；对着 in the direction of sb/sth
They were heading towards the German border.
他们正前往德国边界。
b、趋向，接近，将近（完成某事） getting closer to achieving sth
This is a first step towards political union.
这是走向政治上联合的第一步。
c、接近，将近（某一时间）
close or closer to a point in time
towards the end of April
将近四月底
d、对；对于；关于 in relation to sb/sth
He was warm and tender towards her.
他对她既热情又温柔。
