清代康熙皇帝，在每年春节都要亲笔御书大『福』字，赏赐给有功的王公大臣，以表示天子对臣下的恩宠。而王公大臣如能得到『福』字，会喜出望外，受宠若惊，感到皇帝对自己的信任，预示着官运亨通、飞黄腾达。
